In light of recent events, the Startover team has decided to hold space for stories about the effects of anti-Asian hate and racism. Soyoung will join Susie in discussing these stories, the history of racism with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, and how we start to battle these effects with concrete steps that we can take in order to be upstanders and not bystanders.
Soyoung Park is a Korean American teacher educator and scholar of early childhood. A former kindergarten special education teacher, Soyoung received a B.A from Brown University, an M.P.S. from Manhattanville College, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. Soyoung’s work centers social justice for immigrant children with disabilities and their families. She is passionate about transforming early childhood education to undo systemic oppression and instead sustain the cultures, beauty, and brilliance of all children and families.
